The collective life of all humans is a sum of different paths and ambitions to fulfill various objectives. In recognition of the mission statement from the Journey Beyond Organization, a clear goal is envisioned; to eliminate generational poverty. This aim is achieved by a path of different initiatives, educational and training programs. The logo design was inspired by the nature of a journey which is defined by the starting point, the journey itself, and the end point. Thus, the concept of a path was evolved to represent the route and duration of a journey. The simplicity of the forms was a main criterion to put the focus on the direction of the conceptual journey in this organization.
By mixing the smiley emoji into the path concept, a symbolic meaning of a happy journey is created. Additionally, by using the three visual parts of the logo, a simple abstract pattern was created for a visual system that relates to the youthfulness and the happy environment of the organization.
This logo and visual identity design for Journey Beyond stands out due to its simplicity and ability to convey the organization's values and goals. It serves as a recognizable symbol for the organization's target audience, which primarily consists of young individuals aged 12 to 16. The design aims to involve the younger population and make them feel like a part of the "cool" club, while also being respected and recognized by adults, as the majority of the organization's funding is provided by donors.
The design was realized through various mediums, including social media guidelines, stationary, stickers, notebooks, t-shirts, caps, and passport covers. These different elements contribute to a cohesive visual identity that represents the organization's mission and values.
The Journey Beyond logo and visual identity design project started in August 2017 and was completed in September 2017. Throughout the design process, the team faced the challenge of appealing to a younger demographic while also gaining the respect and recognition of adults. The design needed to be perceived as both "cool" and professional to effectively communicate the organization's goals and attract funding.
This exceptional design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2018. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Journey Beyond logo and visual identity design stood out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to a better world.
